There’s a revolution going on and you’re now a part of it. And people from more than 100 countries have already joined you. You have read The Law of the Garbage Truck™. You no longer let Garbage Trucks take over your life.
I discovered The Law of the Garbage Truck™ sixteen years ago in the back of a New York City taxi cab. And I’ve shared it with thousands of people all over the world in my workshops and speeches.
I’ve written about the Law of the Garbage Truck™ in newspaper columns and on news sites worldwide. I’ve talked about it on radio and television. And I’ve shared it in the best-selling DVD, The Happiness Answer™. And someone probably sent it to you in a mass email.
People from around the world have been signing on to the “No Garbage Trucks!™” Revolution. And now, so are you.
If you want to be happy…If you want to be successful…You have to follow The Law of the Garbage Truck™. Here is an excerpt from The Law of the Garbage Truck™.
“Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they do what garbage trucks do: They look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you.
So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier.”
So join millions of others in the No Garbage Trucks!™ Revolution. Take the No Garbage Trucks! Pledge now.
Just think: What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more Garbage Trucks pass you by? Make a difference in the world. Take The Pledge.
The No Garbage Trucks!™ Pledge©
I am not a Garbage Truck. I do not accept garbage in my life.
When I see Garbage Trucks, I do not take them personally.
I just smile. I wave. I wish them well. And I move on.
And I do not spread garbage to others. I am not a Garbage Truck!
I do not accept garbage in my life.

Hi David. I correlate the "garbage" in our lives to a failure to connect with God. As a Christian, the hardest thing for me to do is "Let go and let God." I like to worry over problems and work them out on my own, even when there is nothing I can do. But when we offer up our problems, or "garbage", to God through prayer, solutions come more easily. Perhaps when other people try to "dump" their "garbage" on us, we should pray that they find the strength to pray for help, so that God can help them shoulder their burdens. Take care and God Bless!
Cari
Thanks Cari for the great post!
So often we struggle internally with the things that disappoint us, frustrate us, and scare us. And the result is that we feel as if we are in a spin cycle in a laundry machine (we say the same things, feel the same things, and do the same things); there’s a lot of motion, but we’re still stuck to the inside of the machine. When we reach out with humility for assistance when we need it, help comes and we are able to get up and get out.
The Law of the Garbage Truck and The No Garbage Trucks Pledge also encourage us to “not take things personally” and “wish them well.” Too often we move to judgement with others. It is better to let them pass by with good will. We all need support; wishing that all people have love and help in their life is a wonderful thing (including the Garbage Trucks that pass us by).
And the key to really working with the Law of the Garbage Truck and The No Garbage Trucks! Pledge is to better respect and cherish the life that we have by letting fewer things we cannot control frustrate us, anger us, and distract us from what’s important in our lives. The power of The Law of the Garbage Truck and the No Garbage Trucks Pledge comes when we learn to and remember to “bring less garbage” into our lives so we have less garbage to “let go.”
Cari, your family and friends are lucky to have you in their lives!
Best to you,
David
Hi David,
I love the idea of taking a pledge to live a better life. It makes it more "real" for me and I feel connected to all the other people who have taken the pledge as well. I have a vision of being in a plane talking to the person seated next to me and we look at each other and say, "Oh my gosh! You know about the No Garbage Truck Pledge?" Wouldn't that be so cool? Thanks David! Tamara
Thanks Tamara! Make sure to tell me when that happens to you on the plane! And it is awesome that you are already connected to people of all ages from more than 100 countries who have taken The No Garbage Trucks! Pledge!
Best to you,
David
This is wonderful! I heard someone talking about this pledge in the healing profession and I had to look for myself. This is powerful! This really has allowed me to let those who are "garbage trucks" to not enter my thinking! Thank you. If we could all take this pledge to heart we would all live fuller lives.
Thanks, Abby
Thanks Abby for the great post! I was told recently how the healing network of professionals was passing The Law of the Garbage Truck™ and The No Garbage Trucks!™ Pledge to important people in their lives.
Congratulations to you for taking The Pledge!
Best to you,
David
IF you don't take the pledge every morning the first traffic light of the day will have you talking to the car that just blew through the light as you began to move and then you catch yourself cutting off someone else in response. What a way to start the day. So a little pledge and remembrance of those who really count in your life not the other drivers garbage and the trip becomes a little less stressful and a lot safer.
T & M Ohio
Hi T&M,
Exactly! You make everyone's experience in life better when you take The Pledge. Ohio is lucky to count you as one of their drivers!
Best to you,
David
